I have been photographing the everyday moms in Sacramento for a few years now and one thing in common that they love so much about their portrait experience is that they learn age and status don’t define their beauty.
Moms in America have been told by society what they can and can’t do. Even further than that, what they can be, what they can dress, and what they can feel – and I want to change that.
Wherever this social pressure originated, it has to go because moms are one of the most capable and beautiful people on Earth. They know what it means to create life, to love unconditionally, and to mold & nurture.
When I bring up portraiture to moms, the usual responses are how it’s not their time anymore and how they don’t feel beautiful.
They deserve to have a girl’s night out. They deserve to wear gorgeous dresses. They deserve to feel beautiful. And these are some amazing moms that trusted me with their vulnerability to make them feel gorgeous because they simply are.
